Sunday Music

XL mentioned a group previous unknown to me, the French Nouvelle Vague. They rearrange (and re-surrect)  New Wave music (Ger., Eng.) in the cool sixties’ bossa Nova style. A fine example is Joy Division’s ‘Love will tear us apart’.

May the coming week be gentle to all of you. When things seem to be overwhelming, step back and take a deep breath – there’s music playing in your head … enjoy.

  1. I really like this band. A friend of mine gave me some of their albums in a pendrive and I immediately loved their relaxed, sweet, slightly French-scented music. I went to their Madrid concert last year, in September and it’s now a pleasure to hear them here, Mago. I love your choice!

    Hai XL!

  2. Guns of Brixton’s cover is very good, but I grew up listening to my punk brother’s albums of The Clash, The Jam and The Sex Pistols, and I have a bit of an emotional attachment to The Clash…

  3. HA – all the old wailers, Ramones not to forget, Leni 🙂 …

Nichts zu danken, Roses. I just saw you at Dave’s … 🙂 very nice gown.

Yes, Joyce, it was quiet and relaxed here too, found a place in the sun with some refreshing wind and a nice view over the land. In between it looked a bit as if a thunderstorm would gather, with dark clouds and white diffused light, but not today. It is now half past ten in the night and remarkable quiet.

    GOd save the Queen, xl!

  4. Nice. Very relaxing.

I’m assuming you’re getting some rest and relaxation…so you’ll have energy to blow your vuvuzela on Tuesday when Germany takes on Spain at the semi finals! Just one game away from playing for the World Cup!!!

  5. It was a terribly hot day, but I found a good place to sit, it was very relaxing, Eros.
I just read on a site that the game will be broadcasted by Sky – whatever station that may be – I will have a peep in the livestream now and then.
If Germany scores, the “trööt” will give notice; and when the screams to God come to an end and finally an embarrassed silence comes down on the area and the smoke of the vuvuzelastacks lingers in the streets – then I will step on the balcony and shout something like “Ay, Caramba!” to the disoriented masses …
I sayed its hot here, Eroswings, brain melts.

  6. Glad you liked it. I didn’t realise it was quite so bright until Dave sent me the picture.

I just realised, I’m going to be 6 hours behind you, for Sunday Music for the next couple of months. I’m going to be consistently late to the event. Oh well.

  7. It’s true, covers can be much better or at least more interesting than the original. Case in point, Therion’s version of Summernight City by Abba. Wow.

  8. I only tried to understand these time zones since I started blogging, Roses – and I miss the clock here. Guess I finally should read Eco’s ‘Island’ in a despaired attempt to understand the planet’s physics.

‘Therion’ as in ‘to mega therion’, Amanda? Very glad to see you again.

  9. Mago,

Somethings going VERY wrong in Blogger again. Most people are having their comments eaten -Savannah, Scarlet, Eryl, Leah-.
I’ve tried to post comments in their blogs and other blogfriends’ but Blogger won’t let me do it (neither from Open Id, nor from Name/URL. Not even posting anonymously.

It looks like a massive technical failure.
XL is moving back to WP.

Just to keep you abreast of what’s going on. 😦

  10. Hallo Leni, I had difficulties signing in and commenting, but now it seemingly works, just commented at Z’s and Scarlet. I like to be kept abreast, very comfy, thank you …
