1716 Georg Philipp TELEMANN (Ger., Eng.) (1681-1767) set the text of BROCKES’ (Ger., Eng.) (1680-1747) Passion into music. While TELEMANN was re-discovered some time ago, I guess outside a few Germanistic seminars BROCKES is unknown.
Here is a small piece out of the highly praised recording of René JACOBS (Ger., Eng.) and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Play it loud, there’s plenty of drive, it’s Baroque!

  1. No. Why? Are you uncomfortable with this, Kat? You like music, art, nature – its the richness of forms, variations, new combinations, we have to perambulate and look around, it’s a long tour rich in variety.
