Sunday Music

The last week was a bit demanding, I am glad that it is over. Depending on what our chancellor & the Ministerpräsidenten will contrive today, I may be working for another five days or less, depends simply on whether they will close schools on Wednesday – what I doubt. Five more days to work, then we’ll shut down the country until next year, general restart on 11th of January. This seems to be the plan, if one exists. I’m okay with it, as long as I can buy fresh bread, what should be possible.
Travelling by train may be a problem, we’ll see. Over the last weeks Deutsche Bahn added to the usual Corona discomfort random construction sites. At one point the database gave me a connection with five (!) changes of transport (trains & bus) that would require to spent Sunday from midday to early evening on public transport ; a journey from door to door would take more than six hours, not the usual three and a half. But their guerilla construction works must be finished one day …
Also finished one day will be the presidency of that ham actor – who gave up on miming a president totally. That he & his clown parade would fight the result of the elction, yes. That an AG under investigation by the FBI would take this absurd case to the Supreme Court – yes (some people do anything for a pardon). But that more than 120 Republican apparatchiks would sign on that absurd case – this must ring some alarm bells. These people do attack the core of a democracy, the vote. They do tell any USAmerican voter “fuck you bubbele, we do as we please, your vote is for the birds if we do not like it”. Parts of the Republican party obviously abandoned democracy – and these figures will stay behind when the scumster finally leaves the White House. The first violent confrontations took place last night between Donnie’s proud followers and counter demonstrators, Trump’s stormtroopers already threaten democratic politicians, and let’s not forget that seventy million people voted for this sad excuse of a man. It is mindbending. Goebbels was right : You have to repeat the lie again & again, he speaks of “einhämmern”, and finally they will believe it. I doubt that the central state will stand the society’s separation / division over time, sooner than later this federation of states will brake apart : Miss America will commit suicide by idiocy.
Anyway, Amerika den Amerikanern, play among yerselfes.
Today’s Sunday Music is a 17th century poem À Chloris (text) by Théophile de Viau (1590-1626) (Ger., Eng.) set to music by Reynaldo HAHN (1874-1947) (Ger., Eng.) in 1913. We hear the version by Pumeza MATSHIKIZA (Eng.) and the Aarhus Symfoniorkester under Tobias RINGBORG. I hope you enjoy the music. May the coming week be harmless for all of us.

  1. Roll on next Summer. I just want to hole up for the next 4-5 months, hopefully we’re be in a better place by then, though still probably shell shocked.
    Pretty music.

  2. You’re right! We are a joke and Trumpito and his cabal will be laughing all the way to the bank with the cash they’ve scammed from America! I am embarrassed and angry by the actions of those GOP representatives. I am tired and angry. I wish you well, dear friend. xoxo

  3. HIbernation for All ! That would be a slogan I’d vote for MsScarlet !

Say what you will, but that bastard collected how-many-millions after the election in the “official” “re-election fund” ? 200 million ? Laughing on the way down to the bank – indeed ! Who is so idiotic to throw money at this pig ? If there is money to be made, if there is another con, if there are idiots to be milked – Donnie is yer man, absolutely !
No worries Savannah, there is a chance that the obscenities will end in the near future. At least the most gross.

  4. I’m sorry, but there were not enough drums in this music for me to appreciate it. :) Did you ever have the time, interest or access to watch Game of Thrones? They are among my favorite soundtracks to listen too. The music is by Ramin Djawadi who also did the soundtrack for Westworld another good show, though I found the last season of it muddled and disappointing. My other favorite is Bear McCreary who did the soundtracks for Battlestar Galactica (2004-2008, I think) At any rate, the newest one and not the original. Creativity sparks creativity. It’s too bad you can’t listen to these soundtracks when driving the kids about. The music can make pulling into the grocery store parking lot feel epic.

  5. Five changes?? One’s enough to put me off (when I had no option but to travel by public transport, that is). You strike me as a very patient man, Mago, but I hope you don’t have to go through that five-change malarkey.

I quite enjoyed your Sunday Music choice – ideal for calming down when one’s connection is delayed…

  6. If I had a cd in that car, the kids certainly would know any acdc lp by now and they would know their Beethoven from their Mozart. Thank you for mentioning all that music Melanie, I am unfamiliar with all of it.

Too true Dinahmow – yesterday evening I avaoided a nasty fall, it was a close call !

I am perhaps too patient IDV.
