Nos igitur, quibus latinitatem, cui tempora nostra minus fauere uideantur (7), multum in diebus nostris posse persuasum est, omnium professionum uniuersitatiumque latinae linguae peritos inuitantes, in Campo Santo Teutonico a basilica Vaticana opacato apud Institutum Romanum Societatis Goerresianae dies latinitatis uiuae (24./25. 3. 2012), quibus diebus sermo Latinus in usum doctrinae et humanitatis recipiendus uigeat, celebrabimus. In animo habemus lectiones litteris mandare. Vos rogamus, ut usque ad 31. 12. anni currentis uel electronice uel per cursorem publicum ad inscriptionem infra memoratam (tempus orationis desideratum indicantes) propositiones uestras mittatis, quibus curriculum uitae et commentarium orationis (ccc fere uerborum) latine conscriptum apponatis. Merita eorum, qui latinitatem lectionibus suis alant et augeant, praemeditantes, eis omnibus iam maximas agimus gratias.

Why a duck?

GROUCHO: Like you? They’ll probably use you. Now, over there is the river front, and all along the river, those are all levees.

CHICO: Oh, dat’s da Jewish neighborhood?

GROUCHO: Well, we’ll Passover that. Now here is a little peninsula and there is a viaduct leading to the mainland.

CHICO: Why a duck?

GROUCHO: I’m all right. How are you? I say here is a little penounsular or peninsula, and there is a viaduct leading to the mainland.
CHICO: Awright. Why a duck?
GROUCHO: I’m not playing Ask-me-another. It’s a viaduct.
CHICO: Awright. Why a duck? Why a duck? Why not a chicken?
GROUCHO: I don’t know. I guess they never thought of it that way. This happens to be a viaduct, that’s all. I never heard of a Via Chicken. You try to cross over there on a chicken, and you find out viaduct.
CHICO: Why a duck? Why a duck?
GROUCHO: It’s deep water. That’s viaduct. Look, sap. Suppose you were out horseback riding and you came to that stream and you wanted to ford over? You couldn’t make it. It’s too deep.
CHICO: Well, whatta you want wit a Ford, if you gotta horse?
GROUCHO: Well, I’m sorry the matter ever came up. I don’t care where you’re from. It’s a viaduct.
CHICO: Hey, look. I unnerstan why a horse, I unnerstan why a chicken. I unnerstan why a dis, why a dat. But I don’t unnerstan why a duck.
GROUCHO: Well, I was only fooling. They’re going to build a tunnel in the morning. Is that clear?
CHICO: Yeah, it’s all clear, except why a duck.

This little gem is from the “Flywheel, Shister, and Flywheel” Episode No. 19 from April 3rd 1933. Our heroes are in charge of the bankrupt Palm Tree Hotel in Florida. It is located in Palm Tree Grove, near Palm Tree Heights, Coconut Junction and the swamp: A real bargain and one of the most promising land development projects since – Noah? After Mr. Flywheel gets rid of all the lots, he has to understand that underneath his feet oil is waiting to shoot up – these lots are really of no use! I especially like the tunnel.
